About the Machon Chai Bar Mitzvah Club

The Machon Chai Bar Mitzvah Club (BMC) is a year-long program for boys in Grade 7 who are preparing for their Bar Mitzvah. This website exists to give parents a clear picture of what the club offers, why it works, and how to enroll. Every week the boys meet for energetic sessions that blend Torah learning, Jewish history and mitzvot with hands-on activities — cooking in the kitchen, building projects, games and friendly competitions. Throughout the year the club heads out on trips and special outings that turn learning into memories, while building a tight-knit group of friends who grow together.

The club is designed for families across the Thornhill and greater Toronto Jewish community — whether you belong to a synagogue or not, and whatever your level of observance. There are no Hebrew requirements and no membership requirement to join, and tuition subsidies are available. Boys arrive with different backgrounds and leave with a genuine sense of Jewish pride, confidence in reading and understanding their Bar Mitzvah portion, and a real connection to their heritage.

BMC is run by Rabbi Benny Kamchaji and Bosmat Kamchaji at the Chabad Israeli Centre (Chabad Hebrew Community Centre), located at 7770 Bathurst Street in Thornhill, Ontario. Rabbi Benny and Bosmat have guided hundreds of families through this milestone for 10+ years, offering everything from private tutoring and in-synagogue ceremonies to hall rental and full event planning. Their goal is simple: to make every boy feel like the hero of his own story and to give every family a Bar Mitzvah year to remember.
